Who’s in the mood to talk porches (*jumps up and down waving arms sporadically* MEMEMEMEME!)?! And, not just *any* porch, I might add. We’re talking FALL porches babes! Oh, hey. I’m Jess. I post daily inspiration on Instagram over on @farmonhogbacklane. You can always find me blogging about home decor and life as a large, messy family of seven with a truckload of animals (also, we’re always sticky). I’m thrilled to be able to join a talented group of fellow bloggers as we share inspiration for the season with you! Anyway, I’m delighted to share a few of my favorite tips for a simple porch refresh with a bewitching twist!
Five tips to a simple porch refresh with a bewitching twist!
Tip 1: Theme it! Pick a theme and roll with it. I like to choose a single piece as a kickstart for inspiration and this sign from HomeGoods gave me a starting point to create this cozy harvest look. Are you feeling that witchy woman vibe? This brings me to my love of The Eagles. Do you love the eagles? “Raven hair and ruby lips, sparks fly from her fingertips, echoed voices in the night, she’s a restless spirit on an endless flight.” C’mon — lyrical gold right there, guys! I’ll be humming that tune the rest of the day now (you’re welcome).
Tip 2: Grab a wreath or two! I mean, you don’t want your door to feel naked, do you (GASP)?! A good wreath is like the icing on the cake of every perfect porch! These jaw-dropping autumn magnolia leaf wreaths are stunning and are my favorite wreaths I’ve ever stumbled upon.
Tip 3: Nab a mat or rug! I went for a simple jute rug to add natural texture. It’s a ton of fun to layer a neutral rug with a seasonal mat, too! I love the natural element that jute adds to a space and these rugs come in a variety of sizes to create that perfect nubby look.
Tip 4: You know I love me some seasonal florals. I used one of my favorite vintage harvest baskets and a tall woven basket to sprinkle in a few fall stems. When it comes to florals, I try to mix and match colors and textures to get a well balanced and natural feel.
Tip 5: Balance it out! It always takes me a few tries to get that look “just right” and it comes down to playing with the balance a bit. You want your front stoop to feel welcoming with just the right amount of pizazz. When in doubt, keep it simple! You don’t have to over-do it to have a beautiful entryway.
That’s a wrap on this simple porch refresh for now — make sure to visit all my friends on this inspiring blog tour and enjoy making the season beautiful, peeps! I raise a mug of pumpkin spice your way, Cheers! Until next time, peace, love, & light!
